Expect red and dark cherry, raspberry, dried herb, forest floor, and a savory mineral note with medium body, structured tannins, and bright acidity. At 15 years from vintage, the 2010 should be drinking well in a balanced window.

The producer
Calera was founded in 1975 by Josh Jensen, who studied Burgundy and sought out limestone soils in California to plant Pinot Noir. He found his site in the remote Mount Harlan AVA (an AVA he established) and planted what became a series of named single-vineyard Pinots — Mills, Jensen, Reed, Selleck, and de Villiers. Calera is widely credited with proving California could produce Burgundy-quality Pinot.
What critics say
Calera's single-vineyard Pinots are widely respected as some of California's most age-worthy and Burgundy-influenced expressions, with consistently strong critical reception.
