At 24 years from vintage, expect mature notes of dried dark cherry, dried red fruit, leather, tobacco, balsamic, dried herb, forest floor, and integrated oak with full body and softened, integrated tannins. The 2001 Brunello vintage was excellent.

The producer
Tenuta Nuova is Casanova di Neri's flagship single-vineyard Brunello. The 2001 vintage was named Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year in 2006 — only the second Italian wine ever to receive that title — and is one of the most historically important modern Brunellos.
What critics say
Tenuta Nuova 2001 received a perfect 100-point score from Wine Spectator and is widely regarded as a benchmark modern Brunello. The wine continues to drink well in mature form.
