At 14–16 years from vintage, expect dark cherry, dried red fruit, leather, tobacco, dried herb, balsamic notes, and integrated oak with full body, structured but softening tannins. The 2009 Brunello vintage was warm; 2011 was excellent.

The producer
Casanova di Neri is one of Montalcino's most acclaimed modern producers, founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri. The estate's "White Label" is the standard Brunello, with the higher-tier Tenuta Nuova and the iconic Cerretalto sitting above it. Casanova di Neri's 2001 Tenuta Nuova was named Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year in 2006 — only the second Italian wine to win that title.
What critics say
Casanova di Neri White Label receives consistently strong reviews as a benchmark modern Brunello, often scoring in the mid-90s.
