Damilano · 2012

$109

Expect dark cherry, dried rose, tar, leather, dried herb, and refined oak with full body, structured tannins, and bright acidity. The 2012 Barolo vintage was good. At 13 years from vintage, the wine should be drinking well.

The producer

Damilano is one of Barolo's older producers, founded in 1890. Lecinquevigne ("the five vineyards") is a multi-vineyard cuvée blending fruit from five Damilano sites — a more accessible expression below the estate's named-cru bottlings.

What critics say

Damilano Lecinquevigne receives consistently solid reviews as a well-priced introduction to traditional Barolo.

Truffled pasta, braised lamb shank, aged hard cheeses
