DAOU’s 2022 Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is a full-bodied red built around black cherry, cassis and savory herbs. Ripe, fine-grained tannins give the rich palate shape without adding hardness. The wine carries its weight well, and its steady finish balances ripe fruit with a firmer Cabernet frame.

The producer
Brothers Georges and Daniel Daou left Lebanon for France as children, later moved to California and built a technology company. After selling it, they pursued wine; in 2007 they acquired the former Hoffman Mountain Ranch in Paso Robles, with Daniel leading winemaking and Georges shaping the estate’s broader vision.
What critics say
Wine Enthusiast’s Matt Kettmann awarded the 2022 DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 91 points and Editors’ Choice. He highlighted rich blackberry sauce, espresso bean and cocoa, with lingering, sappy tannins through the finish.
