The producer
Mastroberardino is one of southern Italy's most historically important wineries, founded in 1878 and credited with preserving and championing Campania's indigenous grape varieties — Greco, Fiano, Aglianico — when many growers were ripping them out for international varieties. The estate played a key role in identifying Pompeian-era grape varieties for the Villa dei Misteri archaeological winemaking project. Note: This wine appears to be filed in the Champagne/Sparkling batch but is a still white wine — recommend recategorizing.
What critics say
Mastroberardino's Greco di Tufo is widely regarded as a benchmark expression of the variety and the DOCG.
