The producer
Grgich Hills Estate was founded in 1977 by Mike Grgich, the Croatian winemaker who made the famous 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that won the 1976 Judgment of Paris. The estate farms biodynamically and organically and is known for a more restrained, structured Napa style.
What critics say
Grgich Hills Cabernets receive consistently solid reviews and are respected for their balance and food-friendliness, though they are sometimes seen as understated relative to flashier Napa peers.
