Hundred Acre’s 2013 Ark Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a deeply concentrated Napa Valley red, led by cassis, blueberry and violet. The wine is full-bodied and velvety, with firm, finely grained tannins giving shape to its abundant fruit. It finishes with breadth and persistence, retaining definition despite its considerable scale.

The producer
Jayson Woodbridge’s Hundred Acre sorts fruit berry by berry, ferments in small French-oak vessels and gives its Napa Cabernets extended barrel aging. Ark, a single-estate vineyard at the base of Howell Mountain, comprises nine Cabernet Sauvignon blocks across distinct volcanic strata, shaded from the hottest afternoon sun by Glass Mountain.
What critics say
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate found the 2013 Ark full-bodied, rich and velvety, with cassis, blueberry, violet and earthy spice. Its review emphasized densely packed fruit and a lingering finish, awarding the wine 100 points.
