Expect dense black currant, blackberry, dark cherry, black pepper, dark chocolate, and refined oak spice with full body, ripe but structured tannins, and a long finish. The 2021 California vintage was excellent.

The producer
L'Aventure was founded in 1996 by Stephan Asseo, a French winemaker formerly of Bordeaux's Domaine de Courteillac. The estate sits in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles and is one of the founding estates of the "Cab-Syrah blend" Paso movement. Estate Cuvée is the estate's flagship.

L'Aventure Estate Cuvée consistently receives scores in the high-90s and occasional 100-point scores from major critics, and is regularly cited as one of Paso Robles' most acclaimed wines.
