Expect dark cherry, dried rose, tar, leather, dried herb, and refined oak with full body, structured tannins, and bright acidity. Barbaresco is generally lighter and more elegant than Barolo, often called Barolo's "feminine" sibling. The 2019 Piedmont vintage was excellent.

The producer
Produttori del Barbaresco is a cooperative founded in 1958 (with origins dating to 1894) representing about 50 grower families in the Barbaresco zone. Despite being a cooperative, the estate is widely regarded as one of Piedmont's most quality-focused and important producers, with a remarkable lineup of single-cru Riserva bottlings in top vintages. The standard Barbaresco DOCG is the entry-tier expression.
