Shadrach, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grant Brurge, South Africa, 1999

Shadrach · 1999

At over 25 years of age, this wine would be in a mature drinking window with primary blackcurrant fruit having developed into dried berry, cedar, tobacco, leather, and earth notes. Tannins should be well softened. Bottle provenance matters considerably for a wine this age.

The producer

Shadrach is Grant Burge's flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, the Cabernet companion to the Meshach Shiraz (named after the same biblical trio from the Book of Daniel). Grant Burge sources Shadrach from low-yielding Cabernet vineyards in the Barossa.
